Apple’s ‘Remote’ Gets Update to 1.1 – [Updated]

[Update 17.09.08 @ 11.36am]

Brenda contacted me last night (Hi Brenda!) to say this:

“The 1.1 update has a bug. You no longer can select your speakers in the settings section, it just disappeared.”

After looking into the issue, you’ll be pleased to know they only ‘relocated’ this feature! To get the ‘Speakers’ panel to show simply tap an album cover on the now playing screen. Above the play controls you’ll now see ‘Speakers’, and it’s then just a case of tapping that to get options for your remote speakers – I agree, it’s that well hidden, I would have thought the feature was taken out too!

In 1.1, Apple have made it so that ‘Speakers’ no longer shows as default, if you don’t actually have remote speakers.

Cheers, Brenda.

Apple’s first ever application to be pushed to the store, was pretty much perfect as it was.
Tonight, it just got it’s first ever update.

See what it added …

Remote [App Store] is an application developed by Apple which allows iPod touch and iPhone users to control their iTunes libraries, remotely, using Wifi.

The 1.1 update pushed out to the store just 20-30 minutes ago, adds integration with Apple’s new Genius service by allowing creation of Genius playlists, as well as creation and editing of playlists in iTunes.

I've been into graphic design for about 7 years now, and now offer iPhone and iPad Interface Design to developers professionally. Along with James, I also co-founded our brilliant new shortening service, RFly.Me. I'm very much tuned into both the App Store and Apple in general. I like the design, presentation and clarity of a product. If it doesn't cut it I'll tell you straight. I'm on Twitter, YouTube, Vimeo and Facebook!
