iChalky: The Hilarious, Dancing Stickman. – [Update]

Posted on October 8th, 2008. Written by Arron.

Yesterday I happened to be surfing the app store, not looking for anything in particular – God only knows Ive spent too much on there as is it! – and found iChalky. Currently the top most popular paid application on the store, and designed by Eric Metois, iChalky is programmed to respond to real physics. Managed by invisible springs, you can touch and throw him around, try and make him fall over by tilting your device, but whatever you do, iChalky will try to keep his balance – and it’s scarily life-like – facial expressions included!

There are of course extra options for adjusting spring damping, spring constants, and floor/wall friction. The best bit? – Crank up those tunes and iChalky will be sure to show you some of his moves!

Wondering what all the fuss is about? Why this is top of the App Store?
Hit the jump for a full video look at iChalky …

[Update] I’m officially blind. Your probably wondering why in the video it says ‘For iPhone and iPhone Touch’ – Why does it say iPhone Touch? – I really have no idea myself. -_-

For anyone wondering, the two tracks I used to demonstrate iChalky’s ‘incredible moves were:

  • Angel in the Night – Bass Hunter (appeared 1st)
  • Burnin’ Up – Jonas Brothers (appeared 2nd)

At just 59p [App Store] it’s very affordable, and I think it’d serve to be pretty hilarious to whip out at parties, or wherever you go really. It’s the best 59p I’ve ever spent, by any means.

Hi, I'm Arron. I'm 20 and I am currently working as a freelance graphic designer and blogger. While managing RazorianFly, I currently also write for AppBoy.com, have previously written for 148Apps.com and have been approached by many others. I've been into graphic design for about 7 years now, and now offer iPhone and iPad Interface Design to developers professionally. Along with James, I also co-founded our brilliant new shortening service, RFly.Me. I'm very much tuned into both the App Store and Apple in general. I like the design, presentation and clarity of a product. If it doesn't cut it I'll tell you straight. I'm on Twitter, YouTube, Vimeo and Facebook!
