10,000 Apps Later, Someone’s made a Collage.

It seems a lot of sites are reporting that Apple’s App Store has reached a colossal 10,000 apps. To celebrate, the guys behind the eBook reader Classics [App Store], which we also profiled a while back, had Arn of AppShopper source the icons for each individual application currently available on the store, and … well .. they made a huge collage outta them! It may not look like much from where your standing, but take a closer look and you may just stare at it for hours in complete astonishment …

First thing to note, there are not actually 10,000 applications available to download. According to Appsherpa, on their latest count, there are 9,630. So what’s the big news about this 10,000? – Well, 10,000 is thought to be the number of total apps that have been submitted to Apple for review. Of course a good chunk of 360 missing apps were pulled for copyright infringement, unsuitability, or as we’ve seen lack of utility to users. Some of course didn’t make the store, being rejected on arrival to Apple’s inbox. Podcaster for example.

Get this – Apparently, if you were to buy all of the applications available on the App Store as of yesterday (30th Nov 08) , they would have cost you a wallet-denting $30,692.29 (£20,512.53).

Since applications are now being accepted into the store everyday, you can only expect this figure to grow, exponentially.

Here’s that collage:

You can also see the original stock image used for the collage here.

A recent tweet from Arn tipped us off on this.
Some feat or what!? :D
