iShoot: Tanks for iPhone [VIDEO] [Updated]

Posted on December 6th, 2008. Written by Arron.

Anyone ever played the flash game Tanks or the extremely popular platform title Worms? , if you’ve played either of these, your gonna love iShoot. Multi-touch controls, a near-endless inventory of world-threatening weapons, for £1.79/$2.99. Hit the jump for our full look, and game play video …

[Update]
As noted by one of our readers ‘Pablo19′ iShoot has dropped in price to £1.79/$2.99. This is said to be a sale price to celebrate the release of 1.1.

See it in action:

‘Rule the World’ by Take That. â„— 2007 Ploydor Ltd (UK).

iShoot is a game of tactics. Survival of the fittest. Each battle you can use how many players you wish to try and eliminate. Whether these be human players, or AI players is up to you. You can also input your tank’s name, and choose how many rounds you wish to play. Further into the game, you can buy from a huge list of major weaponry goodness, including all of this:

Sixgun $450, Mortar $500, Mega Mortar $1000, Dirt Ball $1000, Excavator $1100, Roller $2000, Stinger Missiles $2200, Shotgun $2300, Mini Cluster Bomb $2400, Claymore $2900, Giant Excavator $3200, Portable Mountain $5000, Cluster Bomb $5200, Hellfire Missiles $5500, Great Wall £6600, Meltdown $7700, Tactical Nuke $8000, Mega Roller $11000, Nuke $12000, Vulcan Cannon $21000, Doombringer $24000, Grand Slam $30000, Planet Buster $32000 and (if your lucky) this:

Shiva Bomb $189000.

Pretty obviously, the further you go up the scale, the bigger the power of the weapon becomes (also reflected by it’s virtual price), with the ultimate weapon you can buy being, the Shiva bomb. We’re not quite sure why the the pricing jumps from $32000 to $189000 – but there we go. The aim is to defeat your opponents. The more enemies you defeat, the more money you gain to buy more weapons next time round.

The scenery of the game is pretty good – retro – but done right. The worlds are easily navigable, and controls couldn’t be easier. Slide to aim, touch to fire, and touch and hold to determine the power of your shot.

It’s a great game, passes a few hours, and at £1.79 – it’s one of the better £1.79 apps.

  1. Thanks for this. http://razorianfly.com/ is now in my feed reader, I’ll keep and eye out for your next story. I like the layout of your site, nice and clean and easy to read. Thakns.

  2. cool I really hope that you give out games for free, it would be incredibly awsome.

    • @Pablo19, Hey Pablo – Yep, we’re currently in the midst of contacting top developers such as Gameloft, EA, PopCap, and others to secure some promo codes. If successful, we’ll be giving games, utilities, and entertainment apps away – free.

Stay tuned, and thanks for reading RazorianFly.

  3. Also one thing regarding the article. Apparently ishoot “is now on sale for 2.99 to celebrate the release of 1.1″

The game looks nice reminds me to a game from miniclip.com I used to play with my brother. But I think that since it was .99$ before, that it will inevitably drop back to .99$ or even 1.99$ sometime soon.

  4. Hi, this is Ethan Nicholas, the author of iShoot. Thanks for the writeup, but I’m not sure why you’re suggesting that the price has increased — iShoot was originally $4.99, and I reduced the price to $2.99 when 1.1 was released. It has never been on sale for $0.99.

    • @Ethan Nicholas,

Hi Ethan, firstly apologies for that, we’re making no excuses, and we’ve no idea why this happened. The article has now been corrected (as of 22.03pm GMT) and we will strive to prevent this from happening again.

It’s pretty hectic reviewing all these apps and all the different pricing as I’m sure you can imagine. All I can say is someone, somewhere got their wires crossed.

Great game – Keep em’ coming!

      Cheers,
      Arron

  5. RF said “It’s a great game, passes a few hours, and at 59p – it’s one of the better 59p apps” so I figured it was at .99cents b4. But he has updated the pricetag at the bottom.
