Video Look at: The Plateau

A simple application. Your aim? Untangle the light strings successfully to enter hyper-space. You’ll want to try and keep your amount of moves down to a minimum too. Each level is timed and gets progressively harder as the levels go on. This, is The Plateau by Spoon Juice.

Simple yet addicting, that’s how we’d describe The Plateau. Entering the game you’ll find a total mess of cosmic strings. These are blocking you way, and in order to enter hyperspace you must untangle them so that no string on the playing board is touching another. The game will tell you along the way how your doing by showing untangled strings in green, and touching strings in red.

“The Plateau is a non-area, a corridor between worlds. Immerse yourself in the mind-bending space challenge. Unravel holographic structures of orbs connected with glowing lines to find your way through unknown origins of the outer space.”

See it an Action:

Wah!!? – You just showed me like half of the game, and the solutions! Well we did, but you’ll be glad to know The Plateau uses a level engine which generates different puzzles for different levels, randomly! So although we did show you quite a bit of the game in the video, no two puzzles are ever the same.

Along the way you’ll also find power-ups. These will give you time bonuses, and on some levels, trust me, your gonna need em!

The concept of the game isn’t new at all, nor is the implementation, in fact it’s been the object of popular flash gaming sites for years (for example), but somehow The Plateau brings the game into the 21st century. From a stick-like game of the 60s, to present day. With pleasing artwork provided by UI designer Piotr Gajos, we guarantee you’ll be emerged in the title yourself, if only for a short period of time.

Overall
It’s worth a buck. Spoon Juice say they have no plans to increase The Plateau in price, anytime soon, which we liked – and it shows that 59p games can still be designed with quality and the user in mind.

Finally, thanks to Spoon Juice we have an exclusive ‘The Plateau’ promo code to give away to one of you lucky guys and gals, in the coming weeks – Cool or what? – and, we’re only just getting started. Stay tuned.
