Rolando is Out!

Months in the making, and undoubtedly THE most anticipated game since the App Store launched, it’s finally here. Rolando. Designed by Hand Circus and published by ifunded developer ngmoco, Rolando features ‘Rolando’s’, little beings who live in Rolandoland. Their world has been taken over by an evil presence, and your mission is to strive to overcome it, and restore Rolandoland to it’s once former self.

With the game missing it’s original August release date, many user thought the game would never appear, and with little further said until about two weeks ago, we were starting to think the same. However on Monday of this week Simon, a member of ngmoco’s staff posted the blog update we had all been waiting for:

“ROLANDO GOING LIVE DECEMBER 18th!
Exclusively on the iTunes App Store

I realize that we didn’t quite make the August release date, but I’m overjoyed to announce that Rolando will 100% definitely be released on Thursday 18th of December, bar the total destruction of the Internet! The extra time spent on the game has been well worth it – we’ve had the chance to layer on a ton of extra lacquer and polish, from the 3D pop-up book map and the many refinements to the control system, to the licensed soundtrack by the awesome Mr Scruff and achievements throughout the the game.

There are some new images on the website. Keep checking the site this week for the release trailer and more cool stuff. Thanks so much for your continued patience, hope you enjoy playing Rolando!”

With all the hype surrounding the app, it wasn’t surprising to see that on Tuesday night the game made headlines on the Apple.com “Hot News” section. Some people were surprised at this, but one Toucharcade user summed it up for us:

“They know it’s going to make them a fortune… “
