Original Article:
In September of this year we moved our pride and joy from WordPress.com servers, to self-hosted web-space. A huge jump for us. Not only did it allow us more flexibility with the look and feel of the blog, it also gave us other behind-the-scene’s options which ultimately enhance our ability to edit the blog effectively. In the process we also snapped up the domain RazorianFly.com. You might ask yourself at this point ‘Why did we pick RazorianFly?’ the answer is simply, we don’t have one. We like to think we think outside the box, and RazorianFly was a creation of my own created by fusing the words ‘Razor’ (sharping thinking) and ‘Fly’ (Fast). At first we were criticised for this as usually the name of a site reflects what the site is actually about. Here’s the thing — we didn’t want it to. By creating ‘mystery’ and ‘enigma’ around the meaning of the URL, we have brought in more traffic, and hopefully you’ll agree, the blog is worth a visit or two!

The response to RazorianFly within the last 5 months has been phenomenal, with us now receiving (on average) 9.200 unique hits per calendar month. Initially the blog was setup as a personal one, and that still resides today at razorianfly.wordpress.com. After moving to self hosted web space, in late September we decided as a team that the blog would focus on two subjects which would then become the whole focal point to the blog – design and technology. A combination which we believed (and still do) isn’t seen around these parts very often.

Since launching RazorianFly.com we’ve had the chance to beta-test hundreds of applications, not forgetting our exclusive pre-release look at the iPhone FPS Zombie Mansion [App Store] back in late October, and we setup the ability for developers alike to request a written review!

We like to think of ourselves as an up-coming blog which you won’t regret adding to your bookmarks, and if you’ve got a bit of spare time at the minute, Maybe you’d like to add our feed to your RSS reader? – Or why not add our Web Clip to your iPhone or iPod touch homescreen? – Now that, would rock.

We also couldn’t have done all this without our incredible team of voluntary editors. Chris, James and Matt. You can read more about all our editors who are currently writing for RazorianFly here.

Maybe your interested in Becoming an Editor yourself? To all the people who have contacted us about editorial, we’re currently sifting through your requests and will try to reply to you very shortly.

Feel free to leave us a comment below (we personally read every comment we receive), and join us back here on January 5th 2009 where our App Store Contests will be hotter-than-ever, and we’ll be bringing you the latest and greatest news and reviews of application’s to be hitting the App Store. Plus, I’ll be taking to Photoshop once more continuing my ‘Photoshop Tutorial‘ series and showing you how to create great visual effects, absolutely free. Stay tuned! :D

Finally, grab our exclusive iPhone and iPod touch wallpaper ‘Glistening Winter’
just in time for Christmas, here.

For now, from all the team here at RazorianFly,
Have a very Merry Christmas!

Arron

Hi, I'm Arron. I'm 20 and I am currently working as a freelance graphic designer and blogger. While managing RazorianFly, I currently also write for AppBoy.com, have previously written for 148Apps.com and have been approached by many others. I've been into graphic design for about 7 years now, and now offer iPhone and iPad Interface Design to developers professionally. Along with James, I also co-founded our brilliant new shortening service, RFly.Me. I'm very much tuned into both the App Store and Apple in general. I like the design, presentation and clarity of a product. If it doesn't cut it I'll tell you straight. I'm on Twitter, YouTube, Vimeo and Facebook!
