Animoto: Pictures into Video with a few Taps [Video]

Posted on December 30th, 2008. Written by Arron.

While surfing the store today I came across a pretty fun app called Animoto. It’s made by (and based off) the same people who run the site with the same name animoto.com. We’ve put together a short video ourselves to show you just how the app works.

So, What does it do?
Basically this app allows you to take pictures already existing in your photo library, and make a fully-fledged multimedia video out of them. Using other words, a slideshow. Animoto claims the app looks at your photos, listens to the music you choose, and creates a video of the photos with all this in mind. The result is, you get a pretty snazzy video of which the photos and transitions follow the rhythm of the track you choose.

Once you’ve chosen your photos the app displays them in exactly the same way it would if you were moving or editing your app’s order on your homescreen. From here you can edit the order in which the pictures display, choose your music and your away …

See it in Action:

As you can probably see from the video, the app takes it’s time first uploading your photos to Animoto’s servers, and then actually creating the video. While this is happening the Animoto icon on the home screen will show how many videos are being created in the usual red-bubble-notification-way. A free app which is definitely worth a look.

Hi, I'm Arron. I'm 20 and I am currently working as a freelance graphic designer and blogger. While managing RazorianFly, I currently also write for AppBoy.com, have previously written for 148Apps.com and have been approached by many others. I've been into graphic design for about 7 years now, and now offer iPhone and iPad Interface Design to developers professionally. Along with James, I also co-founded our brilliant new shortening service, RFly.Me. I'm very much tuned into both the App Store and Apple in general. I like the design, presentation and clarity of a product. If it doesn't cut it I'll tell you straight. I'm on Twitter, YouTube, Vimeo and Facebook!
