Posted on January 18th, 2009. Written by Arron.

This Information is Now Out of Date. Please See RFlyGD.com for the Latest.

Long time readers of RazorianFly will be aware that, as well as reviewing iPhone and iPod touch applications, we also like to focus a bit of our energy on design trends, partly because I work full-time as a freelance graphic designer. In this post I’d like to let you know about a change to my freelance site, and some new design services I’ll be offering for 2009 …

[Update] Due to popular demand, you can now Watch the RFlyGD 2009 Promo Vid on YouTube.

Yesterday, the 2009 version of RFlyGD.com went live, and with it a few new services were introduced that I’d been planning on offering for quite a while, but just hadn’t got round to updating the site to reflect it. Compared to the template the site had back in 2008, people have described the change as ‘Slick’, ‘Professional’ and one tweeter said: “I didn’t know iWeb was actually capable of that!”. All in all, the update to the site has been live for just under 14 hours now, and I’m glad to report it has been extremely well received on all levels.

RFlyGD has designed App Store icons for high-profile applications such as: Zombie Mansion [App Store], Apper [App Store], as well as upcoming App Store titles such as: Paytouch, Zlide, Radar, Bullet Skater, SOAP Notes and more. I’m setting up to go into this full-time, and if you like what I do, please help me spread the word … :D

Today, I’m declaring myself as a visual designer for iPhone and iPod touch.

RFlyGD in Tweets

“@razorianfly I love your icons. 90% of the devs need to talk to you about their crappy icons, LOL. The site looks sleek and very nice :)

- iStopmotion (View Tweet)

“@razorianfly Agreed, I must agree with @istopmotion, your icons are very impressive =)”

- Kurasu (View Tweet)

@razorianfly Very nice site. Your Zombie Mansion icon ROCKS! Wow!

Why did you launch RFlyGD?

The introduction of Apple’s iPhone and the debut of the App Store suddenly saw a market open up for great icon design. Open to stand alone developers as well as major corporations, and with competition fierce, it was apparent that users were now buying their App Store applications based solely on the quality and design of their icon.

With this in mind, and my previous experience in the design industry, I felt I would offer a quality visual design service targeted exclusively at the iPhone and iPod touch. Cue, RFlyGD. RazorianFly Graphic Design.

2009 Services

iPhone developers, listen up! Do you have an application in the works? Maybe you want an icon for this application? Look no further. I’m Arron Hirst, a freelance graphic designer from Cheshire, UK. Bringing innovative and contemporary design to your fingertips, I intend to make you stand out.

Here are the design services I am offering to you for 2009:

iPhone Icon Design
iPhone Icons have to be done right, I mean, it’s the first thing potential customers are going to see — they don’t want to see a botched job which looks like it took 15 minutes in MS paint. If they’re going to spend with you rather than the other 9.000 developers currently on the store, you have stand out. You have to ooze quality from the get-go. Using industry standard design software, no request is out of the realms. No matter your application, I can provide your design. Learn More …

Tab Bar Icon Design
Need to differentiate your apps tabs? Designed in 30 x 30 pixels, tab bar icons could make or break your application. Step out of the box, become unique with iPhone and iPod touch tab bar design, from RFlyGD. Learn More …

Splash Screen Design
The splash screen of your app is one of the first things your user will see. It will display for about 7 seconds, but it’s the one factor they will base their entire first impressions of your app on. It’s equally as important as your icon. It needs to look professional. It needs to convey what your app is about. It needs to speak. Learn More …

NDAs (Non Disclosure Agreements)

If your app hasn’t hit the App Store yet, you (as a developer) may be wary of your idea(s) being taken or copied. Therefore (if needed) I will offer to sign a NDA agreement between you (the client) and RFlyGD (the licensor). Under this agreement (if you so choose), you will have the option of not appearing in the latest designs gallery, until the app does hit the store.

Arron

Hi, I'm Arron. I'm 20 and I am currently working as a freelance graphic designer and blogger. While managing RazorianFly, I currently also write for AppBoy.com, have previously written for 148Apps.com and have been approached by many others. I've been into graphic design for about 7 years now, and now offer iPhone and iPad Interface Design to developers professionally. Along with James, I also co-founded our brilliant new shortening service, RFly.Me. I'm very much tuned into both the App Store and Apple in general. I like the design, presentation and clarity of a product. If it doesn't cut it I'll tell you straight. I'm on Twitter, YouTube, Vimeo and Facebook!

  1. Just thought I’d let you know that you forgot to change the titles of the pages… for example the home page’s title is “index” and the splash screens page is just “screens”. But besides that it’s a great website!

  2. This is a great site, you are very good at graphic design. About half of the developers in the Appstore should consultwith you and ask for an icon. Overall, great job, keep up the great designs =]
