Imangi Review

Looking for a word puzzle game for your iPhone or iTouch?  How about a really challenging and addicting word puzzle game?  If you answered yes to both of those questions then look no further then Imangi from Imangi Studios.

After meeting up with the husband/wife duo behind Imangi Studios I learned that their word puzzle game Imangi is an original idea of theirs.  This is not a different take on a previously created game, but something you have never seen nor played before.  The concept is simple but mastering it does not come easy.  You are presented with a board of jumbled letters.  The goal is to form as many words as possible (red squares give more points) by moving the columns and rows up/down/left/right.  Be careful though, because if you put together a good word you will lose it if you move the column/row that it is in!  This is what makes the game so challenging.

As far as what this game offers, Imangi takes things to the next level.  They include pretty much everything but the kitchen sink, and maybe that’s hidden somewhere in this gem of a puzzler as well!  Here’s a rundown of the different modes of game play: Standard Imangi, Speed Imangi, Daily Challenge, and Friend Challenge.  As you can see this great puzzler will keep you busy for a long time to come.

In the Daily Challenge Imangi Studio’s posts a new puzzle every single day.  This coupled with Online High Scores allows you to compete against everyone around the World who may also be playing the Daily Challenge puzzle.  As the week gets closer to Sunday, the puzzles will increase in difficulty.

Most games out there don’t go close to as far as Imangi does with what it has to offer…but wait there’s one more standout feature.  It’s fully localized!  Imangi is only one of a few word games on the App Store that offers full support for most major languages.

I’m going to put it out there that I am not good at word puzzle games, and games that I’m not good at I usually don’t enjoy playing.  For some reason things are different for me when I play Imangi.  I love the challenge it provides, it forces me to improve, and because of that I find myself tapping on the little “I” icon almost daily.
