Skybound

Most games strive for addictive gameplay and something that the user can easily get into. Skybound by Tumbleweed Interactive is a game where you draw lines with your finger to bounce a ball higher and higher into the sky.

Does Skybound from Tumbleweed Interactive have both of those magic ingredients that make for a great game? Hit the jump to find out, and also for details on the giveaway of a copy of Skybound!

The object of the game is simple.  The main character is a ball that you must bounce up as high as possible by swiping your finger across the screen which creates a layer of clouds for the ball to bounce off of.  Sound’s simple but as you get higher things become a more challenging.  Along your journey into the sky there are many different kinds of power-ups and bad things to hit.  Power-ups can send the ball soaring through the air faster then normal but watch out for bricks.  Those bricks can be killers.  Hit one of them and the ball becomes very heavy, barely bouncing off the cloud.  Also you may come across some strange objects while flying through space, I won’t give them away though.

There are three modes of gameplay.  Easy and normal are pretty self explanatory, but along with them there is a boss mode.  Here you battle a flying eye which you must destory by hitting it with the ball.  Beat one boss then you move onto the next which will be a step up in difficulty.  Both modes of gameplay are very enjoyable, addicting, yet different.  A game like this needs online high scores, and the devs have included just that.  One very nice addition is the use of challenges.  This is very similar to Xbox360 Achievements in that there are a bunch of goals for you to fulfill.  They range from very easy to very difficult and definitely extend the gameplay.

The art style in this game is gorgeous with a touch of comedy thrown in.  It’s simple and original.  What stands out the most are the backgrounds displayed as you reach new heights.  They are incredibly artistic and probably some of my favorite art found inside of an iPhone game.  If there is one negative to this game it would have to be the sound.  There isn’t any music, but that’s fine.   The points off come from the sound the ball makes when it bounces off the clouds.  It can become rather annoying.  Other then that there are no other drawbacks to Skybound.  The charm and addictive gameplay will have you picking up Skybound for time to come.

Tumbleweed Interactive is currently holding a high score competition through March 1.  The top 3 high scores will when Tumbleweed Interactive themed prizes.  You must have the full version of the game to compete.  Let’s see some RF readers on that high score list!!!!

Today I will be giving away one free copy of Skybound. This will be given away on my Twitter account trentiles . Details on how to win will be posted on my Twitter page at 12PM EST.
