Congrats To Jimi! Thank You Everyone For Entering!

Be on your hot little toes for this one, because I was nowhere near anticipating this game. It looks like Gameloft has done it yet again, with their latest release, Alone At War.

Developed by Alcomi and published by Gameloft, and with what seems like continuous never-ending app fever with Gameloft, it just doesn’t end.

I purchased Alone At War, as soon as I saw it hit the App Store shelves. Not only because it came from a distinguished developer and publisher, but it just look like a great app to have. Plus, it’s a war game. Who doesn’t enjoy this genre?

When I first launched this app, I was greeted with the typical polished Gameloft splash-screen. From this point and on, I knew this had to be an impressive game. And, I was right. This is the type of game that has those ‘crowd puller’ elements. The design is flawless for an amusing game, like itself. It features a cartoon like, plot. And, an appealing, pleasant gameplay.

Essentially, this game is just like old-day warfare, with bow ‘n arrows and hatchets. Basically, your a one-maned team with a drastic weapon, a bow ‘n arrow, as you fight enemy figures. To shoot your weapon, you simply, tap the screen to launch. The longer you hold your finger on the screen, the farther your arrow will go. Now, these figures range from beasts to – small in size – wimps. And, throughout the game, it gets more difficult as you get more remote. Your ambition is to, basically butcher your enemy until you have demolished the whole team. Then you proceed to the next levels.

As you make your way throughout the game and eventually become unsuccessful and die, you name your character and your score goes on the scoreboard. Therefore, you can always come back for more. As you can see, as it gets more difficult, you are supplied with more effective weapons. Such as the hammer for example. But, always keep in mind when playing this game, it gets more burdensome every level. Exactly, what do I mean by this? You will have to wait and see.

The gameplay is great, but very time-consuming. The game is very addicting at times. The two things that keep me coming back for more (other than the fantastic graphics and superior art design) are the gameplay and scores. As I previously mentioned, this game gets more difficult with every level. The game runs very smoothly. No crashes, no glitches, no having trouble when trying to launch it. The touch sensitivity responds very well, and it even has Facebook connect, which I forgot to mention earlier.

Facebook connect is one of the many awesome features in this game. This allows you to submit your score (from the game) onto Facebook, for all your friends and family to see. Now, they can comment, like this, and anything else FB fanatics do on posts. This (in my opinion) is very cool.

When you complete a level, it brings you to your stats. This acquaints your health, kills, and overall rating. Which can be very helpful at times, especially when you need to know how to do better in the forthcoming levels. The gameplay is very simplistic, in a way. Each level takes about two to three minutes. Now, this isn’t bad. But remembrance, you have more than just two or three levels beyond the bounds. Needless to say, the gameplay couldn’t be more anymore surpassing.

The sound quality in this game is very well played. This aspect doesn’t count much in a game like this, but a little music here and there is nice. The music played in this game fits consummately. Their isn’t any commentary (which is good, because it can get very irritating). This game has it all.

The graphics aren’t the best. But, this game isn’t a 3D graphical type of game. Therefore, the graphics are admirable and very well polished. Generally, I don’t think 3D graphics would go with a game like this. I can imagine 3D graphics, but coming from Gameloft, I don’t know what to apprehend anymore. Which is good.

Now, a problem I found in this game, was where the ‘Pause’ button is positioned. Nearly every time I shoot abutting, I end up touching the button. Now, this may be a personal issue (although, I don’t recall having issues with buttons while playing other games), but be thoughtful in your next update, developers.

What I would like to see in the future update(s)

Multiplayer and an online scoreboard. These two assets would undoubtedly bring up sales and would be well worth over your prevailing price tag.

All-in-all, this game is well worth your buck and will (without question) bring you back for more. With incredibly addicting gameplay and features like these, you will never want to press that home button, I know I didn’t. Do yourself a favor, and go and buy this app!

    1. Looks like an interesting game, especially the sketch-style visuals. Hopefully an update will fix the little pause button issue.

    2. Looks great, but I really don’t like most of gamelofts titles so I’m a bit reserved about buying this one!

    3. Great review man, I am thinking about getting this game. You should do madden review :) .

    4. Very cool app, can’t believe gameloft
made this awesome looking, cartoon styled app!
      Thumbs up!

    5. Oh oops, I will check it out now :) .

    6. This looks awesome. I’d love to win a code for it so I can check it out.

    7. Wow, this looks really cool! I love the visual style.
Hoping I win a code to check it out for myself.

    8. I grabbed a couple of doodle games before. would be nice to add this to the mix. :)

    9. wow interesting style, odd they would go against the iDevices emerging 3D trend. Doodle games have been done before but not as smooth or as complex, usually just a jumble of random levels not tied in by a storyline. Its like a nice simple game that we see so many of (with higher design graphics) with the features of one of the huge 3D multilayer games. With a cheap enough price i think it up to be a major contender, we’ve seen this type of thing happen before with games like “Rope ‘n’ Fly” and “Flight Control”

    10. So apparently if we win we get a copy of “Ramp Champ”. Haha. Someone copied and pasted… anyway, this game looks cool! I hope I win!

    11. Nice job Drew. This looks like fun. Good luck everyone!

    12. I’d love to win this game!
great website by the way, I just found it today

    13. This game looks awesome! I hope I can win a copy :)

    14. This looks sweet! Gonna have to pick it up

    15. Got the email, but it doesn’t contain a promocode! :C

    16. Crows are incredibly smart. They can be taught five things on the drop.

    17. Thanks for the review :) I’ll keep your info in mind before I make a purchase.

    18. I just saw the new Ipad. Is the Apple Ipad solid for video games?
