10 iPhone Apps To Cure Your Boredom – [Part 1]

As a teenager who tends to gets bored quite often lately, I’ve been searching for the Top 10 apps that work best at beating boredom to a pup. I thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of these apps, and I hope that you do, too. Note that the following are in no specific order.

1. Eucalyptus, by Things Made Out Of Other Things

Eucalyptus is undoubtedly one of the greatest apps on the App Store to date. Just think – How great would it be to have over 20,000 FREE books in the palm of your hand? Well, now you can. The app features over 20,000 free books, downloadable via a Wi-Fi connection. Books such as the Harry Potter series, or novels by James Patterson, are not available for download. The app features mainly works of classic literature, like ‘Walden’, or ‘Flatland’. With beautifully animated page-flips that truly feel like a real book, Eucalyptus is, undoubtedly, one app that you shouldn’t miss.

2. Durak, by Lost Token Software

Durak is a highly-enjoyable card game that originated somewhere in Russia. One of the things that I *love* about this app is that it’s not possible to lose. There are many winners, but only one ‘Durak’. The main goal of the game is to get rid of all your cards by canceling out the lower numbers. Believe it or not, it’s quite hard to explain, so thank goodness the game comes with a colorfully detailed tutorial!

3. Rolando, by ngmoco:)

Now, I know what you’re all thinking… “Rolando ONE?! Why, on earth, not Rolando TWO?!” My answer is quite simple. Nothing – I repeat, NOTHING – on the App Store will EVER live up to the great visuals and ultimately enthralling gameplay of Rolando 1. Probably one of the most anticipated iPhone releases to date, the latest update adds integration with ngmoco:)’s Plus+ social gaming network, which makes for a much more rewarding experience.

4. i-Gun, by Vanilla Breeze

This is an app that I’ve had for ages – it really has stood the test of time. Did you play with toy guns when you were a kid? Have you ever seen a James Bond movie? Do you have a vivid imagination? If you answered ‘Yes’ to all of these questions (or.. Even some of these questions), then you need to go buy i-Gun. NOW. It comes with many different choices of background music, at least a dozen guns, and, you know, just that *EPIC* badass feeling. No wonder they call it ’44-in-1′.

5. Scrabble, by Electronic Arts

Ahh .. the classic game of Scrabble. Such a great game. ‘Ported’ over to the iPhone and iPod touch by EA Mobile, this is an application that you most definitely won’t want to miss. The gameplay is nearly comparable to playing on a regular wooden board, but as I’ve said many-a-time, you just have to actually pick it up and play it to get a true feel for it. I believe it’ll best to enjoy it on a rainy day, at your local Caribou Coffee, Starbucks, Biggby’s .. with a warm cup of cider at your side.
