Posted by Arron on 27 Apr 2010 @ 1:48 PMUp until yesterday, viewing a video uploaded to @Facebook from an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad resulted in either that famous blue block, or simply being redirected to YouTube.
Today, as first reported by Federico @Viticci of Mac Stories, the company has now moved to HTLM5 for its video playback.
This move is seen as significant due to the rivalry between Adobe and Apple over lack of flash support on these devices, and now, it is clear Apple is now acting catalyst with it’s decision to omit the technology, pushing major social networks to make the switch from Flash-based web elements to HTML5.
Its still unclear if this change is live in the official Facebook iPhone application. However we’d expect if its not, it be will be real soon.
