I finally gave in a week or so ago to Angry Birds and Doodle Jump, the quick, pick up and play type games. Since then I have now started playing more and more of this style of game. Which brings me to Doodle Find by @Klicktock, an addictive, hidden object puzzle game.
On the screen is columns of all different coloured objects, they range from owls to cupcakes! You basically have to seek out the different objects. When you first start the game not all of the rows and columns are full. At first there will be a few scattered objects. At the top of the screen it tells you what object to find and how many you have to find, for example, ‘underpants x 2’. If you see the object you are looking for you tap it then go on to find the next. You have 90 seconds to find as many as you can and score as high as possible. As you find each object then more are added until eventually you have all rows and columns full with a total of 63 objects. Now it isn’t quite as easy as it seems, the objects are different colours and a few are even upside down so sometimes you just can’t seem to find the object but it is there somewhere! If need be you can pause the game but don’t think that this will help you cheat if you get stuck, soon as you pause it the screen goes blank. Of course that’s not why I tried pausing it in the first place I just happened to notice!
The game works via Facebook Connect, so once you have connected you can compete with your friends on a global leader board. You can also play offline too, but all you will see is your score at the end of the game, there is no leader board for offline games. If you later connect to @Facebook Doodle Find will remember and submit your previous score. Once you are connected you can browse the leader boards to see how well you need to do to beat the weekly high score and also post to the leader boards. Personally, I think it would be nice to have an offline mode for players who don’t use Facebook, but still want a record of all the high scores they have achieved. There is no twitter features on here either which is a shame as more and more people play iPhones games, and love to annoyingly tweet their high scores, so maybe it is something the developer would look into in the future?
The graphics are great, I really like the doodle art theme that is used throughout the game. It is colourful and definitely eye catching. The objects are well drawn, clear and the animal ones are -so- cute. Sound effects within the game are minimal, but are made when you tap the objects or when time is running out. The game also has no background music, but to be honest it does not need any. It is great the way it is.
The game is very addictive and one you will want to keep tapping ‘play again?’ over and over. To add to that, the game is actually free as well and with so many apps in the App Store at the moment, it is not often you come across a well designed, enjoyable game for FREE.
This is one game I would have quite happily paid for.
