Posted by Arron on 19 May 2010 @ 2:14 AMApple has just this minute released the fourth beta revision of it’s upcoming mobile operating system, iPhone OS 4.0 to developers.
While people are still sending in reports of what has changed or been fixed in this release, we now know for certain, courtesy of @Viticci of Mac Stories, that beta 4 seems to include a ‘Utilities’ Folder by default. This folder now includes clock, calculator and voice memos.
[Update] – As noted by @Viticci of Mac Stories (see below), there are a few new backgrounds included in this beta.
[Update 2] – The GPS button in Maps now uses the same icon of apps that use location
[Update 3] – The time limit for task completion has changed from 5 minutes to 10 minutes.
[Update 4] – In this and future releases, there are changes to networking behavior for suspended apps.
[Update 5] – There isn’t an odd silent pause when you pick up a phone call now and the Maps app seems snappier and more precise than ever. (source)
[Update 6] – People with iPhone 3G’s still can’t change the wallpaper (on the springboard) (source)
[Update 7] – The tab bar in Photo’s that has Faces, Albums, Map, etc, looks like it’s gone. (source)
[Update 8] – 18 new wallpapers in total (source)
[Update 9] – Unconfirmed: the weather app Icon now shows the correct or current temperature in degrees. (source)
[Update 10] – Built-in tethering support for AT&T customers (source)
[Update 11] – Tiny change to the Photo app in that you can finally view your Photo Roll in a different orientation—unless you have Orientation Lock turned on that is. (source)
[Update 12] – As noted by @jcostaman this beta can now support more characters when an apps name appears on the home screen.
[Update 13] – As noted by @JasonKneen Mail app shows number of messages in a group/conversation instead of ‘>>’.
[Update 14] – The addition of a custom dictionary. (via @CultOfMac)
As our editor Trevor (@HereIsTrev) notes, this custom dictionary may be 3GS-only.
Stay tuned — We’re constantly updating as we have it.

I think the person that suggested the weather icon shows the true current temperature may have just been experiencing a coincidence, as I am still showing the normal 73 F…roughly 20 degrees warmer than it actually is outside right now. :) I'd say it's safe to cross that one off your list (for now).
