Well it’s official. Apple has today announced the company has shifted a whopping 2M iPad units in the first few weeks of availability.

Launched on April 3rd in the US and last Friday to consumers in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK, the iPad has proven to be a hit with audiences across the globe.

After news broke the device was officially out-selling the Macintosh computer in the US, and with news early last week that international iPad owners already accounted for a quarter of all mobile internet traffic, it begs the question if Apple even needed to launch the product outside the US, for it to become a global success.

Today via an official press release posted to Apple.com, the company announced it had sold 2,000,000 iPad units in just under 60 days.
