Pushme.to Gets Updated to Version 2.0: Brings Free, Real-Time Conversations Without the Need for iPhone

Posted on June 1st, 2010. Written by Arron.

If you’re not familiar with Pushme.to by Treebune, the app is a multi-platform messaging service which allows users to communicate with each other, using short bursts of information.

While there are other services and apps on the store which complete the same tasks, Loren Brichter’s @Textie for example, Pushme.to has an added advantage as the service also allows users to send messages from web.

Today, the company informed us @Pushmeto version 2.0 has now gone live. Described as a “massive update” this version of the app brings free, real-time conversation with your friends with or without iPhone, using just a browser.

Version 2.0 Change Log:

- Two-way messaging with a web browser
- Free registration for web (non iPhone) users
- Completely redesigned, messages organized per conversation
- Ability to link Pushme.to usernames to iPhone contacts
- Avatars support both on the web, and from iPhone contacts (automatically uploaded to the web when linked from iPhone)
- Softer incoming message sound

Our goal? We’re not fighting the IM war, we’re creating a service that is as easy as SMS and can be used by virtually anyone with a browser. “SMS in the cloud, and for free”. No registration is required for sending you instant messages from the web.

- Eugene Shimalsky (Pushme.to)

Alongside today’s announcement, we also got the scoop on some features which are coming up in a future version, including the likes of landscape mode, better messages handling (delete, etc) on the web and iPhone, more languages, portal adopted for mobile browsers (Android, Nokia) and finally, full iPad support.

Version 2.0 of Pushme.to is now available on the App Store, although as the company notes only the full version of the app has been updated, for now.
