Skype: We’ve Changed Our Minds. No Charge for Calling Over 3G, Until 2011!
Over the weekend we gave you the heads up on Skype version 2.0 for iPhone and iPod touch.
To crowds of people cheering, the update finally added the ability to make phone calls over 3G, freely. Well, free until August anyway. But today, Skype has just announced its changed its mind as far as charging users goes.
In fact, according to technology columnists @Engadget, the firm is now announcing calling over 3G with its App Store application will cost users nothing, until 2011. The move comes as the outcry from Skype’s user base about the company imposing charges on the service was pretty negative – and how do you mute bad press? By eliminating the reason that caused it in the first place, until you have time to decide how best to approach it.
As for when in 2011 the new charged system will come in, and how much @Skype will charge its users? That is yet to be seen.
