Posted by Arron on 07 Jul 2010 @ 10:52 PMCiting @Gizmodo’s multiple phone calls to Apple Care support last week, @PCWorld is today reporting Apple has confirmed the reception issues its customers are experiencing are in fact hardware related, despite the company previously issuing a PR statement stating otherwise.
If you cast your minds back a week or two, you may remember Apple issued a statement about iPhone 4 and its “reception issues”.
In the open letter to its customers, it publicly addressed there was an issue with their software algorithm which controls how many bars to display, based on the signal being received by the phone. Apple also announced that due to this issue, a free software update would be on the way in the “coming weeks,” claiming it would solve the issue.
However last week Gawker’s @Gizmodo does what it generally does best, and went to investigate. They did so by ringing Apple Care a bunch of times, asking about the iPhone 4 reception issue and the results? … Well, they’re pretty interesting. “The iPhone 4 software update will do nothing to fix the reception problems–it is a hardware issue.”.
Now you may think this is Apple Care, they know nothing – but stop right there.. These are the people who are paid to provide a premium service you pay for annually. Plus the fact Gizmodo rang three times, all with the same robotic response.
If this tells us anything about the current iPhone 4 reception issue it is this; it is -not- software related and the upcoming update to iOS4 may improve the original algorithm, but will -not- resolve the issue.

“Citing @Gizmodo’s multiple phone calls to Apple ” – automatically stopped reading there. Not only is Gizmodo obviously bias since they got caught with their hands in the cookie jar, but people still even report on what they say. If you want prove just look up when they censored comments that disagreed with them regarding the Apple fight by removing all the vowels from the messages.
