Apple Covering Up iPhone 4′s Reception Issues, Starts Deleting Threads From Own Support Forums

Yesterday we reported Consumer Reports had thoroughly tested iPhone 4 and because of its current “reception issues,” it came to the conclusion it could no longer recommend iPhone 4.

But even though that was the case, @MacRumors reported yesterday that aside from the devices reception issues, Consumer Reports rated the iPhone 4 the highest of any mobile phone on the planet.

Today, @Engadget reports via @TUAW that Apple has taken to “completely removingthreads which cite Consumer Reports and the device’s reception issue, from its own support forms.

If this action alone tells us anything, it’s that the company may have something it wants to hide about iPhone 4.

Previously, Apple issued an official statement saying that iPhone 4′s reception issue wasn’t a “reception issue” at all, and in fact was centered around a software algorithm issue which had been present in iOS since the introduction of the original iPhone.

But a quick call to Apple Care revealed otherwise, with Apple support staff clearly stating the issue was hardware based and the upcoming software update wouldn’t fix a thing.
