Posted by Arron on 19 Jul 2010 @ 10:41 PM@MacRumors is today reporting on a report via @Engadget, which suggests the US governing body which controls the approval of products it itself deems fit for the general public, has in fact approved the recently leaked device dubbed the ‘Magic Trackpad’ which was depicted in photos a few months ago.
The site claims that a new product has appeared in the U.S. Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) online database, with the model number A1339.
While they note that this isn’t conclusive proof the device exists by itself, cross referencing this product model number with the photos leaks a few months back results in a perfect match.
A device known only by its model number A1339 is the culprit here, described as a “Bluetooth Device” used in conjunction with a MacBook without any associated filings for WiFi or WWAN networks. The ultra-rough label location diagram is definitely the right shape for the accessory, and what’s interesting is that the test report was completed way back in October of 2009.
