Starting July 22, Apple Will No Longer Accept Binary Uploads via iTunes Connect
Italian blog @iSpazio is today reporting that Apple has issued an e-mail to members of its Developer Connection to inform them that as of July 22nd (Thursday), the company will no longer accept binary uploads via iTunes Connect.
If you’re not yet familiar with iTunes Connect, the web-based service allows developers to upload applications for submission and acceptance into the iTunes App Store.
Today however, it seems Apple is announcing that developers who wish to upload their applications in binary format will have to use a method called the “Application Loader”.
According to Apple, the iTunes Application Loader provides both faster uploading of developer’s applications, as well as a more stable connection and provides early validation warnings. Developers are told to wait for their applications to hit the “iTunes Connect is Waiting for Upload” status, until they submit their application source code via the iTunes Application Loader method.
The new app can be found under the Mac OS file directory /Developer/Applications/Utilities/ApplicationLoader.app for those of you who have installed iPhone SDK 3.2 or later, or can be used directly from iTunes Connect, starting July 22nd.

Application Loader has been around for a while. I remember using it to upload my iSpeedReader binary last year – so I don't think it's “new” as such, just that they will no longer be accepting uploads any other way.
