Flipboard Facing Issues Adding New Users

Posted on July 29th, 2010. Written by Arron.

If you follow the official account of @Flipboard, you’ll likely be seeing that the company is experiencing some difficulties currently. The problems started when the company reportedly sent out a bulk e-mail to users on a waiting list in error.

The mail shot stated the service was now ready to accept new user’s Twitter and Facebook accounts. The trouble was, the service wasn’t ready to accept new user accounts, but the mail shot went out anyway. The company is now is in the process of apologizing to hundreds of its users as it tries to rectify the issue.

For those not yet familiar with Flipboard:

Your Flipboard is a constantly updated source of news you care about. Why do you care about it and how does it know you will care about the content it displays? It’s because the content it displays comes from your own followers. The people you chose to follow on Twitter or friend on Facebook.

An anonymous tipster sent us the following string which shows one user and his experience.

Hi there,

We just sent you an email telling you that we were ready for you to set up your Facebook and Twitter accounts. We are sorry to say that our email system sent the wrong email. We were actually trying to send you an email confirming your place in line for you to setup your Facebook and Twitter sections.

You will receive another email when your reservation is ready. We are working around the clock to get you your invite and will send you your official invite soon.

Thanks again for your patience and support.

Hi, I'm Arron. I'm 20 and I am currently working as a freelance graphic designer and blogger. While managing RazorianFly, I currently also write for AppBoy.com, have previously written for 148Apps.com and have been approached by many others. I've been into graphic design for about 7 years now, and now offer iPhone and iPad Interface Design to developers professionally. Along with James, I also co-founded our brilliant new shortening service, RFly.Me. I'm very much tuned into both the App Store and Apple in general. I like the design, presentation and clarity of a product. If it doesn't cut it I'll tell you straight. I'm on Twitter, YouTube, Vimeo and Facebook!
