Posted by Arron on 31 Jul 2010 @ 3:42 PMTiPB is reporting via Daring Fireball on a new alternative to Apple’s App Store which is both completely legal and looks pretty damn gorgeous. Built entirely from HTML5, OpenAppMkt is a web store which features every web app you could ever think of for iPhone and iPod touch.
To start you simply visit openappmkt.com from Mobile Safari. Once there just tap the ‘+’ bottom center and then ‘Add to Homescreen’. That’s it, you’re all set! Mirroring the design of the App Store, the store provides users with the market’s picks, categories, top apps and more.

The store comes packed with star ratings too, allowing you to see where best to spend your time based on other user opinions. Of course, with Apple not in charge of the store, not all content is going to suitable for all ages.
Pretty cool.

RT @tputh: Pay the piper http://goo.gl/fb/aadIm azért biztos nem pont erre gondol steve, amikor a html5 propagandát nyomja.. :D
It's worth considering how web programmers are going to get paid for HTML5 webapps in a better fashion than the 'honor system tip jar' method in place today. Right now iPhone app devs can monetize their work, right now. That part of the puzzle, getting paid for HTML5 work, that needs to happen sooner rather than later.

How the heck is it possible for apps to be installed like this!
The app seems to install separate from safari (Not within safari like safari homescreen bookmarks) and it is not from the app store OR Cydia!
