Posted by Arron on 06 Sep 2010 @ 1:20 AMFollowing 6,730 people on Twitter is never an easy task for me, but sometimes it results in me having the privilege of seeing some pretty interesting and thought-provoking ideas come to light – like this one for instance, just tweeted by Twitter user Alex (@TapDatApp).
The idea, as I understand it, would take the same shape of the pre-order system which is offered to users on the iTunes Music Store currently, only this time the item being ordered would be from the iTunes App Store. Similar to music, the system would allow users to pre-order an application for wireless delivery to their iPhone, iPod touch or iPad on that developer’s set release date.
Of course, as noted by Alex himself, the system would only work for titles which had a specific release date set from within iTunes Connect. It’s an interesting concept and definitely one we think we’d like to see Apple adopt in the future. The image above is a mock-up we made to show what we think the pre-ordering system for apps might look like on the iTunes App Store.
The question is – Would you pre-order an app from the App Store?

I would love to see that as a developer myself!
It’s a great idea and all, but with Apple’s approval process the way it is now what’s to say that an app will even be approved. I’d hate to throw down money expecting to get my app upon approval but instead get my money refunded because the app in question isn’t approved.
