According to a report published by The Wall Street Journal today, customs in China have detained 14 iPad-smuggling housewives.
Together the ladies were able to conceal 88 iPads (although exactly which models these were hasn’t been revealed), and 340 “phones” – again, no official word on if these were iPhones, but … we’re guessing they were.
The women reportedly earned approximately $30 per trip across the border.
Seemingly defending the women though, WSJ writes:

“Border control can’t fully staunch the flow of a product in huge demand,”.
