Posted by Arron on 05 Jan 2011 @ 7:07 PMFollowing the slip up from Ralph, BGR now reports that a video depicting what appears to be outer casing parts for iPhone 5 has surfaced. The video, created by part supplier GlobalDirectParts, is similar to other clips we’ve seen in the past from Smartphone Medic, the only difference is these are not outer casing parts for the iPhone 4, but for the unannounced iPhone 5.
The main difference being the new parts do not have some of the necessary slits in the aluminum band running around the phone, suggesting Apple may be going for some other form of antenna implementation, after “Antennagate”.

BGR reports:
There are several key differences between the iPhone 4 parts and the new parts we are being shown — shown side by side in the video. The casing does still have a micro-SIM card slot, which could mean this is a global Verizon iPhone or a slight retooling of the current GSM iPhone 4. At the beginning of the video (around 0:23), the company appears to have a fully assembled version this next iPhone and leave us with the taunt: “more coming next week.”

Could be a Verizon AND iPhone 5 design. I think the differences with iPhone 5 are going to be minimal (thinkg 3G -> 3Gs) and Apple will focus most of it's attention on the iPad this year in order to advance their lead in the tablet market while competetors struggle to gain ground. This is what happened in 2007. They took a massive market share early on and only now are people starting to catch them.
In terms of hardware they are leaps and bounds ahead of other devices and, for the iPhone at least, what they need to do is start making major changes to iOS so it can remain competative with Android.

well it can't be the Verizon CDMA version, because those won't have the SIM entry. CDMA doesn't use SIM cards. Right?
