WSJ: Verizon iPhone To Hit Stores End Of January – [Updated: Reuters Confirms]

In the run up to Verizon’s event on Tuesday, it is fair to say that the Apple community, especially those who are already iPhone customers and “enjoying” the benefits of AT&T and it’s services, are pumped for what will be announced.

So far, we know that, Gizmodo won’t be attending the event as they failed to receive an invite, and according to The Wall Street Journal, Steve Jobs will be present, barring “unforeseen circumstances”.

Conclusion? – This is probably the Verizon iPhone announcement (or at least, iPhone 4 coming to Verizon).

Now though, The Wall Street Journal also claims that according to sources “familiar with the situation”, the Verizon iPhone may hit stores as early as the end of January.

Apple Inc.’s iPhone will make its way to Verizon Wireless stores around the end of the month, a person familiar with the matter said.

Verizon has invited reporters to a press event where it is expected the wireless carrier will announce it will carry the iPhone. At the Consumer Electronics Show, conference goers weighed in on the news.

The largest U.S. wireless carrier by subscribers will make the long-awaited announcement to carry the iPhone on Tuesday at an event in New York City, people familiar with the matter have said.

[Update]Reuters just confirmed that according to their sources, Verizon will announce the iPhone on it’s network on Tuesday, with the unnamed source also claiming the device with be on sale “within weeks”.

Not surprising. If anything, Apple will want this iPhone 4 deal with Verizon “out of the way” for lack of a better phrase, due to their impending announcement of iPhone 5 rumored for WWDC11 in June.
