In a new report via CNET tonight, it is claimed that search giant Google has official begun testing its music streaming service Google Music, internally, suggesting its release is all but imminent.
There is however one slight hold up — Music. According to CNET sources Google hasn’t yet secured the necessaries to fill the service with music.
So technologically Google Music–a streaming service that users would access from Web-connected devices–appears close to being ready, but a launch is being held up by the lack of one vital component, say the sources. Music.
When asked about this current “drawback”, Google unsurprisingly failed to comment.
Google did not respond to an inquiry from CNET about Google Music.
Just how much of a threat Google’s new music-centric streaming service will be to Apple’s long-established digital media distribution hub, iTunes, though is yet to seen.
