According to WIRED’s Steven Levy, Google’s newly launched Google+ – a social networking service which is bound to compete with that of Facebook – was actually designed by Macintosh creator, Andy Hertzfeld.
With colorful animations, drag-and-drop magic, and whimsical interface touches, Circles looks more like a classic Apple program than the typically bland Google app. That’s no surprise since the key interface designer was legendary software artist Andy Hertzfeld.
So, that’s why the Google+ commercial looks like an Apple ad …
In related news, Google+, just as with all other Google services, will be getting its own native app for both Android and iOS. Found within the documentation released by the company yesterday, the line “(Coming soon) Native app for iPhone (iOS 4+)” suggests we can expect to see Google+ in the App Store shortly.
No mention of an iPad app just yet, but we can dream … right?
