According to AppleInsider, who offers up “intelligence” from Concord Securities analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple could be gearing up to introduce a White version of its highly-popular iPod touch music player, this holiday season.

Apple fifth-generation iPod touch has been speculated on for quite some time. In fact, some have even provided mockups of what they think the device may look like. Today’s report, however, claims the device will look almost identical to the current available model, with one distinct difference … it’ll also be available in White.

Claiming the company has already “placed orders,” for such devices, the report notes:

Looking into the current third calendar quarter, Kuo said checks indicate Apple has placed orders for white iPod touch models that are expected to go into mass production sometime in late August, but he added that the build plans for those models reflect few, if any, distinguishable changes from the existing black models introduced last fall.

“It means no spec update of iPod touch this year,” he said.

That report would be weak by itself, if not for the fact that 9to5Mac has also stepped up claiming to have found a White face plate for the upcoming device. Pictured above, the part, (if real), looks almost identical to Apple’s fourth-generation model, featuring a cutout for both front-facing camera and ambient light sensor.

The rumors follow the discovery of a reference to what appears to be an unreleased iPod touch model in the latest version of iOS 5, currently in testing by developers of the ADC.
