Earlier this week, you may remember we gave you the heads up that a licensed remake of the 1997 retro classic Final Fantasy Tactics was heading to the App Store. In a post published to the Official European Blog, developer Square Enix announced its plans to release the game sometime today.
Right on schedule, Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions is now available for download in the App Store. Originally available on PlayStation One, selling a cool 2.4 Million copies in its heyday, this release of the game is specifically special as it marks the first time ever that Final Fantasy Tactics has been available for digital download in Europe.
Unfortunately, what you won’t find in this version is local multiplayer mode. However, according to initial reports, the slowdown bug which caused fight scenes to crawl in the original title, has been fixed.
Intuitive Touch Screen Controls
The complex tactical game can be effortlessly and intuitively controlled by simply tapping units and menus. Gone is the old method of switching fixed map views – you can now rotate, move and change the size of maps as you please by sliding and pinching.
Improved Loading Times
Loading times have been improved to get you into the action quicker than ever. What’s more, you can even skip certain cut scenes.
Graphics have been adapted for optimal performance on iPhone/iPod touch screens.
