Managing to get his hands on a pre-release copy of the software at the social network’s New York press conference yesterday, Ellis Hamburger of BusinessInsider this weekend noted how “incredible” the iPhone implementation of Facebook’s new ‘Timeline’ feature was.
For those not familiar with Timeline, the feature has basically been designed to tell a story. But, not just any story – your story. Timeline documents your life as it happens, creating a “digital scrapbook” along the way for good measure. Getting his hands on the iPhone version of the feature for the first time, Hamburger noted “It’s so good it will make you want to skip the desktop experience and just use Facebook on your iPhone.”
“Just wait until you see Timeline in action on a touch screen device. It’s so good it will make you want to skip the desktop experience and just use Facebook on your iPhone. Timeline is built to be manipulated on a touch screen,” he said.
He continued, “Swiping through the years of your life is effortless, and Flynn even showed me a slick new feature that lets you take pictures “in line” inside your Timeline. In this way, you can see exactly how the pictures will look once they’re posted.”
While Facebook couldn’t provide a solid timeframe as to when we could expect Timeline to hit the iPhone, Joe Flynn, Facebook’s Lead Designer For Timeline’s Mobile Interface, noted that the feature wouldn’t see its debut until it was “completely finished.”

From the picture it looks really good, seems to have that sleek feel we know and love iOS apps for, instead of the clunky feel of the current Facebook client.
