What you see above is what Samsung calls its “Smart Case” – a case which not only has the ability to provide the firm’s Galaxy Tablet with protection, but can also be rolled up to act as a support stand for the tablet.
Sound familiar? – it should do, as Apple also has its own variant of the case called the “Smart Cover”.
According to Bloomberg this afternoon, Apple is now suing Samsung over the design, look and feel of its Smart Case. In a report issued by the publication’s Joe Schneider, it was noted:
Apple Inc. claims Samsung Electronics Co.’s cases for Galaxy 10.1 computer tablets and Samsung phones infringe its patents. Apple said it sued Samsung at a hearing in Sydney today.
Originally carrying the “Designed for Samsung Mobile” mark and manufactured by production company Anymode, (a subsidiary of Youngbo Engineering, which – at the time – was headed up by Sang-yong Kim, reported to be the nephew of Samsung’s chairman, Kun-Hee Lee), Samsung’s Smart Case was pulled from shelves after media fallout started to heat up regarding its legal case against Apple back in June of this year.
