Posted by Arron on 09 Jan 2012 @ 9:37 PMLooking for a slice of that face-unlocking action Android 4.0 users are currently touting on their smartphones? – Well, you may just be in luck. The guys at Engadget tonight claim to have spotted a video showing the coined software – “FaceUnlock” – successfully running on an iPhone.
Designed to allow users to unlock their device using just a front-facing camera and their own “unique” facial features, FaceUnlock has (thus far) been an Android OS exclusive. However, in the next several weeks, the port shown below could be making its way to the iTunes App Store — (Apple’s final approval permitting, of course).
From the video, it’s promised to make a trip to the App Store soon, hopefully without earning the ire of the retail guardians of Cupertino.
Check it out, right after this! …
