The last few months have largely been home to rampant speculation surrounding the possibility that Apple may (one day) enter the television market. However, this week, rumors of such a product may now have been confirmed.
According to The Verge this afternoon a recent customer survey offered up by retailer Best Buy actually included a (seemingly dreamt up) description of the rumored Apple product, noting the device is expected to “reinvent” TV, landing at 42-inches with a price point of $1499.
Describing the product description as a “concept,” the one-time online survey reportedly asks customers to answer a series of questions based on their interest in such a product and its feature set.
The Verge has more:
The big box wants to know how you feel about it based on some proposed promotional verbiage which boasts that “Apple finally reinvents what a TV can do,” saying that it’ll run iOS, support iCloud, be controllable from an iPhone or iPad, and have access to Netflix, YouTube, and Flickr – in other words, it’s an Apple TV wrapped in an actual television set, exactly as you’d expect.
The survey is now thought to have been specifically designed to weigh up how much consumer interest there is for a product of this nature, prior to the TV set’s official rumored release – sometime later this year.[via iClarified]
