Earlier today, a new app entitled ‘Pokemon – Pocket Edition’ hit the iTunes App Store to a mixed reception. At first, it appears some users believed it was a licensed port of the official offering rumored to be coming last Summer. However, those who may have plunked the $4.99 asking price for the game will soon find out that all is not what it seems …
The description, quite worryingly, has the following “disclaimer”:

That’s right folks! – this app appears to be nothing more than a gallery of photos taken from the real game. We’re not sure how this got past Apple’s approval system. Even more perplexing is – according to App Shopper – Apple actually featured the “game” about 3 hours ago.
“Pokemon Say Tap?” – the first official Pokemon title which was expected to hit the iTunes App Store last Summer, is the only offering from The Pokémon Company that has been rumored to possibly be heading to iOS, and – (as of writing) – is not available for download.
On a side note, (while we’re on the subject of potentially misleading apps), Pokemon Yellow is again not a port of the popular Pokemon offering featuring the same name, and reportedly crashes after the main screen.
You’ve been warned.
