Over-The-Air App Download Limit Raised To 50MB

In light of the new iPad having a “Retina” display, (and the apps designed for such a device likely having to carry new ultra high-resolution assets to take advantage of a display of this caliber), Apple overnight raised the maximum app download limit when downloading apps to either your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad – to 50MB.

Up from the previous limit 20MB, this new limit not only makes room for those aforementioned high-resolution assets which may be included in the apps we download moving into the future, but it also is thought that Apple has been able to achieve this from a functional standpoint due to the new iPad now supporting the super-fast wireless LTE band, theoretically making app downloads even faster and fluid than before.
