Apple: Demand For New iPad “Off The Charts”

(credit: The Verge)

Following the U.S online store selling out of new iPad models over the weekend – (and shipping estimates for the device consequentially slipping to March 19 … further in some cases) – Apple yesterday issued a statement to USA Today noting that initial demand for the new iPad has literally been “off the charts.”

Noting that the quantity it had originally allocated to be sold through its many online stores “has been purchased,” Apple said in a statement that, “Customers can continue to order online and receive an estimated delivery date.”

The statement read:

“Customer response to the new iPad has been off the charts and the quantity available for pre-order has been purchased. Customers can continue to order online and receive an estimated delivery date.”

So, if you are looking to get your hands on the new iPad on launch day, but haven’t managed to get your pre-order in yet — We’re sorry to say it, but you might have to consider queuing outside your nearest store … like these guys.
