Take this with a pinch of salt, as we’re pretty confident – (if it is in effect at all) – this is unlikely to be a customer policy which is in effect at every one of Apple’s retail locations.
That said, according to a new report by our friends at 9to5Mac this weekend, at least some customers are said to have experienced success in getting Apple’s Genius Bar staff to swap out their White iPhone 4 (16GB) models for the slightly-enhanced, Siri assistant-boasting iPhone 4S.
The unit replacements arrive as Apple is reportedly running low on replacement White iPhone 4 (16GB) models. Noting that supply of these units is “heavily constrained” at the moment, the site also notes that – according to multiple reports – Apple has instructed Genius Bar staff to replace the White iPhone 4 units of those customers looking for replacement with previously-refurbished iPhone 4S units, until further notice.
