Just days before Apple is set to reveal its financial earnings figures for Q2, 2012, U.S telecoms provider Verizon has this afternoon announced its own earnings results for the first quarter of this year.
Noting the company had activated 3.2 Million iPhones handsets in the quarter, the firm announced cash flow from operating activities of $6.0 Billion which is up $922 Million compared with 1Q, 2011. This, it said, reflects a 4.6 percent year-over-year quarterly revenue growth.
During Apple’s record 2011 holiday quarter, Verizon announced it had activated 4.3 million iPhones handsets – which reflects a decline on the number of handsets it manages to activate compared to the first quarter of this year.
Overall, Verizon sold 6.3 Million smartphones, and – at the end of the first quarter – nearly 47 percent of Verizon Wireless’ retail post-paid customer cellphone base were smartphones, up from 43.5 percent at the end of fourth-quarter 2011.
