Despite an unconfirmed report earlier this month claiming that Apple CEO, Tim Cook, had paid a visit to the headquarters of gaming giant – Valve, Kotaku reports that statements made by Valve’s co-founder, Gabe Newell, during a podcast episode recorded by Seven Day Cooldown – tell quite a different tale.
Noting how the rumor had been “stated so factually” that Valve were “actually confused” by how far it managed to spread, he said:
We actually, we all sent mail to each other, going, “Who’s Tim Cook meeting with? Is he meeting with you? I’m not meeting with Tim Cook.” So we’re… it’s one of those rumors that was stated so factually that we were actually confused.
No one here was meeting with Tim Cook or with anybody at Apple that day. I wish we were! We have a long list of things we’d love to see Apple do to support games and gaming better. But no, we didn’t meet with Tim Cook. He seems like a smart guy, but I’ve never actually met him.
As we noted previously, a future partnership between both Apple and Valve could bring great things to the PC gaming scene. Whether or not that will happen, however, is yet to be seen. One thing is for sure though. Cook did not meet with the company last week …
… Unless, of course, Valve was told to deny ever meeting the CEO due to super-awesome things in the pipeline.
We can dream, right?
