Apple will today pay out a total of $2.5 Billion ($2.65 per share) to its shareholders, marking the company’s second dividend pay out in the space of 17-years.
In March, Apple announced plans to initiate a dividend and share re-purchase program. The company explained that this quarterly dividend of $2.65 per share would be distributed to all shareholders “sometime in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2012,” which began on July 1, 2012.

On October 25, Apple announced “record” fourth quarter results of $36.0 Billion in revenue and quarterly net profit of $8.2 Billion, (or $8.67 per diluted share).
As of writing, AAPL is sitting at 536.88 -6.02 (-1.11%) a share, with the company’s shares holding at a volume average of 5,619.00/21.23 Million, and the firm itself currently reflecting a market cap of 505,038.73 Million.
