Today marks the 10th anniversary of Apple’s Safari web browser. Initially released on January 7, 2003, the browser became the default web browser packaged with the firm’s OS X operating system, replacing the Netscape Navigator and Cyberdog web browsers which were bundled with the OS previously.
According to Net Applications, Apple’s Safari web browser accounted for 62.17-percent of mobile web browsing traffic, and 5.43-percent of desktop traffic in October 2011, giving a combined total market share of 8.72-percent in relation to the web traffic which originated from other available web browsers for the same period.
