Kantar World Panel is out with a new report this week, in which it claims that Apple’s mobile operating system – iOS – continues to lead as the top-selling smartphone operating system currently being sold across the United States.
“Top carrier rankings remain consistent this period, with AT&T continuing to maintain its lead with 33.3% of smartphones sold in this 12 week period. AT&T has declined slightly, reducing the gap with Verizon whose share remains stable with 32% of smartphones sold,” the report reads, adding that “Sprint remains one of the key carriers offering Apple but is seeing little increase in sales share, as the brand continues to decline this period in third place with 14.8% of smartphone sales.”
According to the market watcher, Apple’s mobile OS managed to capture a whopping 51.2-percent of the market as a whole. This compared to Google’s Android OS, which took 44.4-percent of the market between Q3-Q4, 2012, and Microsoft’s Windows Phone OS, which saw just 2.6-percent in U.S smartphone sales for the quarter.
