According to a new report by Asian news outlet YICAI, Apple’s previously rumored ‘Research and Development’ (R&D) facility located in Shanghai, China, will go ahead – this Summer.
From the (translated) report:
“The Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce official microblogging Shanghai Business announced that Apple will be the establishment of the Shanghai R & D center in summer.”
The facility was originally rumored to have been located in Beijing. However, reports which previously suggested this were quickly debunked when BrightWire reported that the actual location of the (then “secret”) research facility would be Shanghai.
According to today’s report which claims to “confirm” Apple’s plans for such a build, the California-based company has already registered three new buildings in the Pudong (浦东; pinyin: Pǔdōng, lit “Huangpu East Bank”) region of China, and is now set to move in its R&D management teams – later this year.
