Following on from a report by Engadget earlier this week, which pertained to a filing Apple had reportedly made with the FCC concerning a (potentially) new model of its Apple TV, an Apple spokesperson has confirmed to TheNextWeb that the update to the product will be internal, and will result in no changes to the product’s aesthetic design.

“We sometimes make component changes which require an updated model number for regulatory approval,” the Apple spokesperson said. “The component changes we made don’t affect product features and Apple TV customers will continue to have the same great user experience.”

The publication confirms that, while there will be some changes to the device, these will be strictly internal, with the set-top box in its next silent revision (model A1469) set to receive Apple’s “A5X” (SoC) processor, alongside Broadcom’s slightly-updated “BCM4334” wireless chipset.
