Weird, right?
It doesn’t matter whether it’s Safari, iMovie, iPhoto, iTunes, Messages, Pages, Numbers or Keynote. Typing the phrase ‘File:///’ into one of Apple’s default OS X apps will strangely cause the app to crash, in the latest version of OS X – Mountain Lion.
We just had to try it out for ourselves. The following video is a demonstration that uses Apple’s jukebox software, iTunes, as the stock app. We then tried copy and pasting the phrase ‘File:///’ into the iTunes search bar, and seconds later the app became unresponsive – and eventually, crashed.
It works. Try it.
The bug has now been reported to Apple.
