Details of this week’s ‘Single of the Week’ after the fold.
iTunes Single of the Week – (UK)
This week’s single of the week is brought to us by sunshine brothers, Mitzi. Based in Brisbane, Australia, there doesn’t appear to be a lot of information publicly available on the four piece band, which you might argue adds to the band’s public appeal.
The track has a steady beat, alongside repetitive lyrics and a few 80s undertones, making ‘Who Will Love You Now’ the all but perfect track for chilling out to.
iTunes Single of the Week – (US)
Meanwhile, sticking with the Aussies, this week’s U.S single of the week arrives courtesy of Atlas Genius. Atlas Genius is an indie rock band from Adelaide, South Australia. The band consists of vocalist and guitarist Keith Jeffery, and his brothers – Michael on drums, Steven on bass, and Darren Sell on keyboards.
Their first single, “Trojans”, debuted on May 4, 2011 on MTV, with critics describing the track as a solid “summer jam.” Just over two years after their debut single, the band is back this week with their new single, ‘Symptoms.’
‘Symptoms’, which is the title track of the four piece band’s new album – ‘When It Was Now’ – is your typical indie-rock track with a rhythmic guitar base and floaty lyrics. The track also features a number of soft elements, too, which ultimately juxtapose the song’s indie-rock persona.
